It's funny how some shows just seem to come together with a bit of a theme and this weeks could loosely be described as 'bass line atmospherics'. I kicked off this week with a track from the epic Moritz Von Oswald Trio release on Honest Jons - amazing stuff from Mr. Oswald, Vladislav Delay and Max Loderbauer - 4 tracks and 45 minutes of deep percussive afro leaning dubbed out techno flavour. Clubroot is an ex drum and bass producer turned dubstep don and his latest album is laden with bottom heavy haunting soundscapes. Mount Kimbie are another outfit taking dubstep in brave new directions and I am loving the Vertical track from their recent ep.

The Heavy are a bunch of Bristol funk rockers (terrible description) and Joker has brought their sound into the dubstep arena in wonderful style. Prince Fatty are the best reggae group you have probably never heard of but this year could be their year and this ODB cover should at least give them exposure on all good party dance floors over the warmer months.

It somehow took me 3 years to hear about Root 70 and their jazz take on Burnt Friedman so this week, better late than never, is a great slice of left leaning jazzy reggae from them. Ricky Tick have been one of the most consistent jazz labels of the last few years and their forthcoming single from Timo Lassy featuring Jose James is going to do that reputation no harm whatsoever. Impossible Ark will be releasing one of this years finest compilations and The Rhythmatic Orchestra's take on African Mailman is just a little taster of the musical joys to come.

Tres Records, home of consistently good independent hip hop, are 5 years old this summer and have just released a great compilation to celebrate, check out the rising star of Paten Locke. Sarah Linares drops a quality slice of forward thinking soul music and Blue Daisy drop their eagerly awaited single of lo-fi, hazy crazy, forward thinking beats. Young David is a young house inclined producer I've had my eyes on for a while and this new track from him is a great slice of slo-mo cosmic/balearic goodness. As if Floating Points hadn't done his reputation enough good this year I finish the show with KG Beat, another stellar production with a hint of Mark Princhard's infamous Carambola remix, this time on Planet Mu.
